Sperm freezing is becoming a popular option for many men for various reasons. It can serve as a backup ahead of assisted reproductive treatments in cases where the male partner may not be able to attend the clinic on the day of egg retrieval, due to travel or other commitments.
Additionally, it’s a useful option for men who have previously experienced difficulties in providing a sample.
Choosing to freeze sperm is a personal decision. Dr Nisenblat and the team at Fertility SA, Genea is here to help you explore whether it’s the right choice for your circumstances.
Fertility Specialists may also advise freezing sperm in situations such as:
The process of freezing sperm is simple and straightforward. You’ll first need a referral from your GP, which you will bring to your appointment with Dr Nisenblat. During this consultation, Dr Nisenblat will assess your medical history and discuss your specific situation.
To ensure the best possible sample, it is recommended that you abstain from ejaculation or sexual activity for three to five days before your collection day. When the time comes, you’ll visit one of our clinics, where you’ll be provided with a private room equipped with digital materials, free wi-fi, and sperm-safe lubricant to assist you in providing the sample.
